Michael Cuscuna

American jazz producer and writer, born September 20 1949, Stamford, Connecticut - died April 20, 2024. As a freelancer, he researched the archive of the label from 1975 especially for releasable unissued recordings which eventually led to the co-founding (with Charlie Lourie) of Mosaic Records (2) in 1983. During the course of his career, Cuscuna worked on jazz releases for the major record companies, including Sony on box-sets of its Miles Davis holdings recorded by, as well as supervising new sessions for independents, though he is best known for producing reissues.
