Ed Michel

American musician, engineer, producer, and record company executive from Los Angeles, California born in 1936. Mainly produced jazz and blues recordings since 1957. Collaborations with many jazz musicians, from Louis Armstrong to John Coltrane, Dave Brubeck, Chet Baker and Miles Davis. Also credited as photographer.

Started in industry as an assistant engineer to Richard Bock and Val Valentin. Joined as Associate Director of the Music Department in February, 1966. He left do freelance producing and joined in early 1969 as their jazz and blues specialist. After Bob Thiele left to establish Flying Dutchman, Michel took over management of, and in 1970.
