American bop/hard bop pianist, educator, composer and band leader. Born: July 24, 1921 in Greenville, North Carolina - Died: December 28, 2010 in New York City, New York. He started his career in 1944.
Do NOT confuse with the swing bassist/composer Billy Taylor Sr. ("Finesse"); both played with Don Byas, Cozy Cole etc. The two are not related.
