Billy Nelson
Credited as Billy "Bass" Nelson · Born William Nelson, Jr.
American bassist and songwriter, (Born January 28, 1951, Plainfield, New Jersey – Died January 31, 2026). He was the original bassist for Funkadelic from 1966 to 1971.
He recorded with the Temptations, the Commodores, Chairman of the Board, Lionel Richie, Smokey Robinson, Jermaine Jackson and Lenny Williams.
In 1993, he released a release under the name O.G. Funk. After 1994, he served in various touring lineups of Parliament-Funkadelic. He also toured with P-Funk spinoff acts the 420 Funk Mob and Sons of Funk.
